Guide to Gardening

It’s that time of year again to start your garden and grow your own vegetables! This is a simple guide for beginners to start their garden.

1. Find a spot in your yard to start the garden

This should be somewhere where you can regularly manage it and close to a water source for watering. Pay attention to the spots in your yard where the sunlight commonly hits, so that your garden is not in the shade all day.

2. Decide whether you want raised beds or an in-ground garden

Raised beds have less weeds and allow the soil to drain water better, although it may cost more than simply digging in your yard.

3. Buy soil

When starting a garden, it is important to invest in nutrient rich soil, as you will be using it every year. You will have to buy more soil if planting in a raised bed.

4. Choose your plants/seeds

When choosing, make sure you consider the weather and climate in your location.

5. Learn about the time to plant each plant

All plants grow in different temperatures, so it is important to research when to plant. By planting prematurely, you can kill the plants.

6. Water and monitor the plants regularly

Don’t forget to care for your garden! Just like humans, plants need water to grow and provide you with the vegetables you deserve after your hard work!

And of course, if you are stuck, there are so many resources on Google that can help you with any problems you may have.
