Pumpkins for Pigs Drive

November 2021

The West Windsor Environmental Club ran a pumpkin drive to collect decorative pumpkins from Halloween and fall. The club donated the 35 pumpkins collected (and counting!) to a farm in New Jersey where the pumpkins were enjoyed by pigs and goats instead of being thrown in the garbage.

Endsorsement for Tirza Wahrman

October 4, 2021

The West Windsor Environmental Club supports Tirza Wahrman for Mayor, an environmentally-conscious candidate who is on the town's Environmental Commission and is working to protect the town's green spaces. Our letter of support was published in the community newspaper, print and online.

Reusable Bag Campaign

October 3, 2020

West Windsor Environmental Club members Avani Prakash, Seher Talukdar, Tiffany Kemeklis, Eva Hu, Amira Adarkwah, and Akshita Prakash worked with the West Windsor Environmental Commission on a reusable bag campaign. They set up a table at the West Windsor Farmers Market to inform people about the environmental effects of plastic bags and to give away free reusable bags, encouraging people to be more sustainable.

NJ Environmental Youth Training

February 8, 2020

On February 8th, 2020, four members of the West Windsor Environmental Club attended the New Jersey Environmental Youth Training at the Reformed Church of Highland Park. We learned how to gain power for the good of the climate movement, how to lead effective campaigns, and how to cultivate campus relations and build a community to help us achieve our goals.

Visiting Local Stores

November 26, 2019

Club members sought out the managers of local stores to inform them about Article IV and inquire them about their usage of plastic bags and measures that they might take to help resolve the issue of plastic waste. This photo was taken with a manager at Trader Joe's, an establishment that currently offers customers paper and reusable bags. We greatly appreciate their efforts are proud to have them in our community.

West Windsor Township Council Meeting

November 18, 2019

Three club members attended a town council meeting to speak in support of an ordinance to adopt Article IV, which would drastically reduce the usage of plastic bags in West Windsor.
